Joel Spolsky said "Nothing works better than just improving your product." What a great concept! Apple introduced the iMac in 1998 and it came with a mouse that was pretty much universally hated. I will admit, I've never experienced this one for myself, but the internet has shown it's rage to the mouse they dubbed the hockey puck! It was rather round-is and didn't fit in your hand very well. It was translucent so you could see inside, that was cool, but the short cord made it hard to use and the design made it quite clunky. Apple listened and mad a new and improved version that people absolutely loved!
