Leo Tolstoy said “Grow spiritually and help others to do so. It is the meaning of life.” What a great quote. I love the sentiment too. I try to do my best to help others... it's something that makes me feel good... and I think it's usually pretty welcome by whoever I'm helping... but not always! About fifteen years ago, I was walking into a business and I saw a lady about a dozen steps behind me, so I stopped and held the door for her. She yelled at me for doing that! I was so confused. She said “I can open a door!” I said “Oh, I was just trying to be nice” and she said “that's so played out” then I kind of giggled... and said “OK, sorry!”
